This qualifies for pure vanity. We now have an iPhone- and iPod touch-compatible icon as shown to the left. If you add a link to the site (cawilliams.us) or to the blog (blog.cawilliams.us) to your home screen, you should see it.
Interested in making your own? The rules are almost straight-forward.
- Must be 45px by 45px in size
- Must be in PNG format
- Must be located in the root folder for your site and named apple-touch-icon.png -or-
- Put it in another directory, call it whateever you want, and add a rule similar to the following.
< link rel="apple-touch-icon" href="http://your-site/your-directory/your-icon.png" / >
Terry White, host of the Adobe Creative Suite Podcast, has an episode that explains it nicely here.
