I came across a neat post on the Apple support database for identifying the umpty different models of iPods the company has produced over the years. You can click here or go to Apple.com > Support > Search Support: HT1353. They’ve got pictures and stats all the way back to the first iPods. There is a link to another article if you are interested in hp’s short stint in the iPod business.
