Makin’ the Move

One characteristic of the Internet is the huge amount of flotsam and jetsam out there. You find an interesting site like flickr or LiveJournal and settle in. A few monthls later you find a site like blogger or WordPress and hey!, they’re better. And then you need a blog for school and the instructor wants you to use a specific site with a specific name (like this). And mnteverest.net is cool because Everest is amazing so you need to register at that site (which I did but don’t bother sending me email there). Before you know it, a couple of years has passed and you’re registered at two dozen sites and abandoned just as many.
Welcome to the 21st century’s version of urban sprawl.
For the last few years, I have my blog on LiveJournal and for the most part, I’ve been a happy camper there. In a bid to cut down the amount of sprawl I contribute to the Internet, I’ve decided to set up a WordPress-powered blog on my website. This lets me use the flexible WordPress engine and use Adobe Contribute CS3. (And in case you were wondering, LiveJournal is not compatible with Contribute.) Since I already pay a yearly fee to host my website, I figure I might as well make use of the space. It would also motivate me to do something with my site; I’ve been neglecting it for the last eight months or so.
