Adobe has announced the date for the formal unveiling of Creative Suite 4: Tuesday, 23 September 2008! You can register for the webcast here. While I don’t know that I will get to watch the webcast, I am looking forward to seeing what’s coming. We already know some of it through the CS4 public betas of Soundbooth, Fireworks and Dreamweaver but it will be intersting to see what they are doing with the rest of the Creative Suite.
I’m also interested to see what they do with packaging and prices. Right now they have six bundles (Design Standard, Design Premium, Web Standard, Web Premium, Production Premium, and Master Collection). With the addition of Fireworks to Design Premium, the only difference between Design Premium and Web Premium is InDesign vs Contribute. Design Premium is $200 more ($1799 vs $1599) which would account for the higher price for InDesign.
There is a bigger difference at the Standard Level: InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Acrobat Pro vs Flash, Dreamweaver, Fireworks, Contribute.
I wonder how new products like Thermo will figure in? Maybe they will add that to their Web offering to provide a bigger discriminator.
This will be the first upgrade release for Master Collection. Since I have MC, I’m really watching this. Hopefully it will be something reasonable. (Read "something I can rationalize!")
In any case, mark your calendar: CS4 is coming.
