<p>I know this isn&#8217;t news now but hey, I never got around to mentioning before. Lance Armstrong is returning to the pro peleton for the 2009 season. The seven time Tour de France winner is going to try for eight!</p>
<p>Lance will be riding for <a href="http://www.astana-cyclingteam.com/">Team Astana</a> under his old manager, John Bruyneel. Of course, <a href="http://www.trekbikes.com/">Trek</a> is the official team bike. (<a href="http://www.trekbikes.com/us/en/bikes/road/madone/madone69prored/">Madone 6.9 Pro</a> for most races, the <a href="http://www.trekbikes.com/us/en/bikes/triathlon/equinox_ttx/equinoxttx99ssl/">Equinox TTX 9.9 SSL</a> for the time trials.)</p>
<p>One oddity&#8230; Trek is building the 6.9 with <a href="http://willyoumaketheleap.com/">SRAM RED</a> components; Lance always used the latest <a href="http://bike.shimano.com/publish/content/global_cycle/en/us/index/products/road/dura-ace_7900.html">Shimano Dura-Ace</a>. Given Lance&#8217;s fierce loyalty to the sponsors who supported him during his bout with cancer, I wonder if Trek will make his bikes with Shimano components. </p>
<p>Whether you love him or hate him, one thing is for sure: bicycling just got more interesting. Again. </p>
